I love to customise that perfect bag to suit your life and style. Simply follow the steps below!
Step 1
Get in contact with me via the Custom Bag Form below, or via email, and let me know you'd like a custom bag!
Step 2
I'll then set up a free consultation (usually by phone or in person) to discuss your needs, including function, style, type of denim, lining fabric etc. If you'd like me to use your own denim / fabric, then that can also be arranged by either dropping off the fabric or posting it to me. Alternatively, if you'd like to use some of my fabric, then click here to view my current fabric library!
Step 3
I'll then make your bag within 14 days of our consultation. My rates are $25 / hour plus the cost to cover fabric, denim and/or hardware. If you supply your own fabric/hardware then you ofcourse won't be charged for that! Usually, a smaller/simpler bag will take about 3 hours and a larger/complex bag up to 6 hours.
Step 4
Once it's done, I will post you the bag for standard domestic shipping cost (or you can come pick up for free), whatever you prefer!

Who and why?
Did you know that the fashion industry is the third biggest polluter, contributing to water pollution, air pollution and climate change? As individuals, we have the responsibility to keep our land and water clean, and we can do so by opting for sustainable alternatives. One alternative is to buy upcycled products, which are items that are created by transforming other items. Choosing upcycled doesn't mean we can't have things that are beautiful, and I hope my bags can demonstrate that! So I want to thank you for being here and joining me on a journey of creativity and sustainability that will hopefully lead to a healthier planet.
As a marine biologist, I’ve spent the last 2 decades witnessing both the beauty and downfall of marine ecosystems and conducted research on the impacts of climate change on the delicate balance of life in the ocean. More recently, I started sewing bags as a creative outlet and to unite these two passions. By upcycling unwanted denim into bags, I aim to do some good - for the planet and for people. I purchase the denim from second hand shops, combine it with beautiful remnant fabric, and donate 10% of profits to animal charities.
By starting Mooch Denim Upcycled, I aim to highlight the problem of fast fashion, provide an alternative through upcycling, and make bags that you can show off AND feel good about!

Natural markings
As I use upcycled materials, there may be some natural markings on the fabric, such as lines, slight fraying, fading and other irregularities - however none of these aspects compromises the structural integrity of the bags (and more often than not they add more character!). I sometimes deliberately highlight these 'imperfections' as part of the design e.g. deliberately fray edges of the labels, seams, etc. If you have any questions about a product, please contact me before you buy and I will happily clarify!
